Back To Work
Inconsistency in work time be damned, I still keep chugging along
Yesterday the threat of icy roads caused a late start for one little one, which in turn delighted both kiddos, and then school was cancelled for the youngest and my normal work hours evaporated in an instant. So I squeezed a little in last night and I’m back at it today, trying to decipher where to begin.
I shot this little video last week as I started to layer onto one of the crescent moon shaped pieces that I’d started on ages ago…
Turns out after so many weeks away from my practice what I wanted to do most when I was finally able to get back to it was make a big mess.
Play around.
Start on something new, add a few layers to some old work I haven’t touched in what felt like too long.
and it was an absolute delight.
My hands were covered in color when the time came to pick up my son.
Using new(ish) supplies I’m still learning how to layer and just diving in head first with no concern of the outcome beyond enjoying the process and exploring what was possible was well worth it.
This is where I left things off last week:
On Tuesday I spent some more time on the darker blue crescent moon piece. I’m kicking around having it be double sided but I’m not sure just yet. I’ve considered making it detachable so you could hang two pieces separately or put them back together to be hung and viewed from both sides.
It may just be two separate wall hanging pieces though too… time will tell

annnnd the little house I worked on to pair with it:
I used acrylics, those art crayons I mentioned in my last post layered with soft pastels and Neocolor II’s. The house is made from plastic that was rescued from the recycle bin.
I’m not sure how I’m securing the house yet either so I’m looking to sort that out today.
I gotta wrap this up so I can get back to it… more to come,
